US travel agency air ticket sales in July increased 11% year over year to $7.6 billion. July sales were bolstered by a 16% year-over-year increase in international passenger trips and a 7% increase in US domestic passenger trips settled through the Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC)
Results for July 2023 showed:
- Total sales down 6% month over month, up 11% year over year
- Total passenger trips down 2% month over month, up 10% year over year
- US domestic trips up 1% month over month, up 7% year over year
- International drips down 5% month over month, up 16% year over year
- Average ticket price down 5% month over month, down 8% year over year to $528
Steve Solomon, chief commercial officer, said that air travel demand remains strong as consumers prioritize traveling this summer and into the fall. He said that while total and international passenger trips declined slightly from June, the July results “reflect typical seasonality trends.”
