The Travel and Meeting Society (TAMS) announced the release of its DIY Playbook for Business Travel, which the organization calls “a comprehensive guide set to become an essential resource for travel managers looking to optimize and elevate their travel programs amid an ever-evolving landscape.”
TAMS describes itself as a grassroots initiative focused on delivering education and disrupting and innovating in the travel and meetings industry.
The playbook, according to TAMS, is more than just a collection of best practices. It is the culmination of months of effort by a team of industry volunteers who have contributed their time and expertise. Each chapter, according to the announcement, offers invaluable insights, practical solutions and innovative strategies designed to equip travel managers with the tools they need to drive success, efficiency and cost-effectiveness in their programs.
Michelle Grant-Macht, chair of TAMS, said the playbook was born out of discussions and collaboration that took place during the organization’s IGNITE 2024 conference. It was created, she said, “by passionate professionals who have experienced the challenges and opportunities of managing corporate travel firsthand.” The creators, said Grant-Macht, “wanted to give back to an industry that has shaped so many of their careers by providing a resource that not only highlights current trends but also offers actionable strategies that can be implemented immediately.”
As the business travel environment continues to face rapid changes, said the announcement, the playbook is designed to offer solutions for both new and seasoned travel managers.
Key features of the playbook include:
- Practical advice for managing corporate travel in a post-pandemic world
- Innovative tools and strategies to enhance cost savings and efficiency
- Insights on technology and automation in travel management
- Guidance on navigating sustainability initiatives
- Best practices from seasoned travel managers
