Swiss has launched fights from Washington DC (Dulles) to Zurich in a continuing expansion of its network in North America. The daily flight is one of three new intercontinental routes Swiss is launching this summer season, with Toronto and Seoul slated for new service in the coming months.
The Swiss A330-300 aircraft deployed on the Washington-Zurich route has a three-class configuration consisting of eight First Class armchair seats, 45 Business Class seats and 183 Economy Class seats. Fights leave Washington daily at 8:45 p.m., arriving in Zurich at 10:50 a.m.; they depart Zurich at 12:55 p.m. and arrive in Washington at 4:15 p.m.
Dirk Janzen, vice president, passenger sales, the Americas for Lufthansa Group Airlines (Swiss’s parent company), said the new route is a significant step for the company in that all the group’s network passenger airlines (Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and Swiss) now serve the US capital. He said, “Outside of our home markets, North America is our most important region, and expanding our footprint in DC solidifies our presence across the US and Canada.”
Lufthansa Group carriers fly from 31 North American gateways, offering 484 weekly frequencies. At Dulles Airport, the group operates 39 weekly frequencies.
