Taking on the World

Teaming with the right TMC to create a truly global program starts with asking the right questions
As corporations continue to globalize, it’s hard to overstate the importance of determining the kind of travel management company with which to partner. Such a task can mean looking for factors such as international scale, local expertise and technology that uniquely supports the company’s travel objectives. No two travel programs are the same, and they should be treated accordingly.

Certainly the demand is there for the services TMCs provide in support of international travel. Worldwide spend on business travel is estimated to have topped $1.3 trillion in 2016, according to GBTA, with projections of more than $1.6 trillion by 2020. As corporate travel managers seek efficiency in areas ranging from negotiating discounts to duty-of-care, the right partnerships may be more important than ever.

As travel managers consider such partnerships, one of the questions that arises is, are there really any global TMCs?  While a positive answer may seem like a no-brainer in this era of growing globalization, not everyone agrees.
