Technology and innovation are making it easier to slim down that most elusive spend category – dining
It’s no secret that processes for capturing travel spend have become more robust in the past few years. But when it comes to expense management, one area that tends to lag behind is dining.

Many travel managers find it hard to get arms around such a high-volume, low dollar spend category. Capturing all that dining spend is simply not as straightforward as airline or car rental bookings. Yet dining can be big business when it’s aggregated as a T&E line item across the company ledger. At the same time, precise data on such costs may be lacking.

“We find that many companies don’t have any idea how much employees spend on business dining even though the number is readily available to them,” says Vic Macchio, founder and CEO of Dinova.

A Different Way to Play 
Dinova is an Atlanta-based company that has assembled a proprietary marketplace which connects expense account diners to a network of more than 14,000 restaurants. When employees use their corporate-issued credit card at a participating restaurant, savings are passed on to the employer.
