Growth is attributed to larger and fuller aircraft as airport joins six other airports in achieving milestone >>

A record 80 million passengers traveled through Heathrow Airport in London in 2018, up 2.7 percent over last year, with growth boosted by the use of larger and fuller aircraft. Heathrow is one of only seven airports in the world to achieve this milestone. Heathrow was also named “Best Airport in Western Europe” for the fourth year running in the most recent Skytrax World Airport Awards. Terminal 2 beat its international counterparts to win “World’s Best Airport Terminal,” with Terminal 5 coming in fourth. Last year, Parliament voted by an overwhelming majority for Heathrow expansion – a project which, according to the airport, will bring growth to every corner of the UK. John Holland-Kaye, Heathrow CEO, said the airport is on track to deliver an expanded Heathrow in the early years of Brexit, “which will keep Britain as one of the world’s great trading nations.”
