Alaska Airlines is expanding nonstop service between San Antonio International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. One new daily nonstop flight in each direction is scheduled to begin July 16, which will give the airline two nonstop flights in each direction per day. The flights will be served by a 178-seat Boeing 737-900 aircraft. Alaska Airlines launched its current service from San Antonio to Seattle in 2012. In 2018, market demand for air service between the two cities grew by 11 percent, prompting the carrier to add flights. The new flights will depart from San Antonio International at 6:45 a.m. and arrive in Seattle at 9:05 a.m. The return flights will depart Seattle at 5:45 p.m. and arrive in San Antonio at 11:55 p.m. According to an airport spokesperson, San Antonio and Seattle share common trade and business interests that complement both cities and their economic development, especially in the areas of high-tech, bioscience, advanced manufacturing and clean energy.
