Corporate travel traffic up over previous year, according to ARC

The Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC) reported that the average US roundtrip ticket price for July 2017 was $473, down from $503 in June; average ticket prices were down 3.2% compared to July 2016. The dollar value of air tickets sold by US-based travel agencies increased nearly 4.1% in July as compared to the previous year because of a 5.3% increase in the number of passenger trips. The number of passenger trips transacted by corporate travel agencies in July was up 2.9% from the previous year. There was a sharp rise in sales of Electronic Miscellaneous Documents (which track ancillary airline purchases) – up 64% in July of 2017 as compared to the same month last year. ARC settles carrier ticket transactions for more than 7,000 travel agencies.
