Appointments and promotions at Hertz, FCM Travel, U.S. Travel Association and Mandarin Oriental.

Hertz Global Holdings
 announced that Gil West, former COO of Delta Air Lines and General Motors’ Cruise unit, will become CEO, effective April 1. He will succeed Stephen Scherr, who has decided to step down as CEO and member of the board of directors on March 31. West and Scherr will work together over the next several weeks to ensure a smooth transition. The company operates the Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty vehicle rental brands.

FCM Travel has named Andy Hegley leader of its European operations, a newly created position for the travel management company. He joined the company in 2022 as managing director for the UK and Ireland. Hegley previously spent five years leading UK operations for Corporate Traveler, which, like FCM, is part of Flight Centre Travel Group.

The U.S. Travel Association has named Aimee Misako Gabel as senior vice president, events and education, a new position that will play a key role in shaping and transforming the association’s events – like IPW (the international inbound travel show) – as well as in delivering new programs. She joins the organization from RE+, a renewable energy event, where she most recently served as chief experience officer. During her tenure, the event grew to be a top 50 trade show, according to an announcement. Previously, she was a co-founder of The Rose Company, a consulting firm.

Mandarin Oriental announced the appointment of Alex Schellenberger as senior vice president, brand, based in Hong Kong. Most recently, he served as global market marketing officer for Accor. Schellenberger has also held senior executive positions at a number of beauty and luxury goods brands, including Coty and Swarovski.
