A large majority (89%) of global business travelers are not yet comfortable using AI-enabled options for booking business travel, but an even larger number (95%) are open to it for certain tasks, according to the sixth annual Global Business Travel Survey from SAP Concur. Among the other findings:
- 48% want assurance that their personal data will be protected.
- 38% want company-provided training on how to use it.
- 37% want assurance that the tools do not create any bias.
- It’s younger travelers who are least comfortable with AI, with 95% of Gen Z and 92% of millennial business travelers saying they are uncomfortable using AI-enabled booking tools, compared with 83% of Gen X and 68% of baby boomers.
- That said, 95% of global business travelers would consider using AI-powered automation to support their tasks, including visa and documentation support (37%), capturing and reporting expenses (37%), finding sustainable travel options (37%) and more. In addition, 19% would prefer to book business travel by receiving an AI-curated list of options based on their preferences and needs.
The survey was conducted by Wakefield Research from April 5-26, 2024, among 3,750 business travelers in 24 markets.
