HiSky, a Romanian carrier, will begin flying from Bucharest to New York four times weekly on June 7. This development follows the airline’s recent authorization from the U.S. Department of Transportation to operate regular flights to the US. This will be the first nonstop service between Romania and the US since the Romanian carrier Tarom halted JFK service in late 2003.
The flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There will be two classes on the Airbus A330-200 aircraft for the 10-hour flight: economy and business. Iulian Scorpan, CEO, said this is a significant milestone for HiSky, “and even more so for Romania and all passengers wishing to travel across the ocean without stopovers or time wasted at other airports.” HiSky began operating three years ago.
From Bucharest, HiSky operates regular international routes to Brussels, Barcelona, Málaga, Dublin, Chișinău (Moldova), Bordeaux, Tel Aviv and Frankfurt. Image: Anna Zvereva – https://www.flickr.com/photos/130961247@N06/51524609848/ HiSky/HiSky, ER-SKY, Airbus A319-131.jpg
