Delta Air Lines and LATAM, the South American carrier, have expanded their network in Brazil with the addition of a year-round daily flight between Atlanta and Rio de Janeiro; and with seasonal daily service from New York to Rio through Feb. 21, 2024.
The routes are operated by Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, with four cabins: Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and a Main Cabin. These represent new additions to daily direct services that Delta offers from São Paulo (two frequencies to Atlanta and one to New York-JFK) for a total of five daily flights between Brazil and the US.
Danillo Barbizan, sales manager-Brazil for Delta, said the services are yet another demonstration of the recovery of the travel industry in both countries and prove the importance of Rio as a gateway.
He added that the flights represent the value and scope of the partnership, which, with LATAM’s network in Brazil, “is helping us to supply these flights and ensure faster and more comfortable connections for our customers, which adds to the numerous reciprocal benefits for frequent flyers.”
Another advantage, said Barbizan, is the fact that the flights leave Rio in the morning, which makes it easier for those coming from some parts of Brazil to connect. Also, when travelers arrive at Delta’s hubs in Atlanta and New York-JFK, they can still take advantage of connections to other destinations in the US in the late afternoon and early evening.
