Condor Airlines announced it has entered into a bilateral codeshare agreement with longtime partner Alaska Airlines. This allows each of the carriers to place its designator code on the other airline’s flights and sell those flights via all GDS distribution channels. With this agreement in place, Condor is now able to market and sell more than 70 Alaska routes across the US.

Alaska earlier this summer began marketing and selling Condor’s nonstop flights to Frankfurt from 12 US transatlantic gateways, including New York/JFK, Boston, Washington/BWI, Seattle, Portland (Ore.), San Francisco and Los Angeles, with more to be added. With the codeshare, Alaska can now offer its customers additional options for its customers traveling to Europe with Condor’s connectivity from its Frankfurt hub to more than 100 destinations throughout Europe and beyond.

Condor will now be able to offer its guests more access to Alaska Airlines’ established and growing network across the US, according to the announcement. The codeshare alliance further bolsters Condor’s participation in Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan program, where members can earn and redeem miles for Condor flights.

Mikko Turtiainen, director of sales – the Americas for Condor, said the carrier has been working in close partnership with Alaska Airlines for more than 10 years, and with the new codeshare agreement, “we are able to build upon our successful interline agreement, which offered seamless connectivity, ticket and baggage handling services.”

The codeshare, said Turtiainen, strengthens the Condor network and reach in North America. This gives easier and clearer Condor visibility, he said, in the GDS and online booking tools to travel advisor partners in North America.

Nat Pieper, senior vice president of fleet, finance and alliances at Alaska, said the carrier continues to bolster its international partner portfolio, giving guests convenient access to more of the globe. Condor provides a key link with its nonstops from Alaska’s gateway cities to Europe and beyond, he said, adding, “We look forward to expanding our codeshare with Condor to destinations beyond Frankfurt in the near future.”
