Breeze Airways, the low-cost carrier, announced that New Haven, Connecticut, will be its 64th city. Service from Tweed New Haven Airport will begin on Dec. 10 with five times weekly nonstop flights to Fort Myers, Florida; the carrier will then launch five-times-weekly service on Dec. 11 to both Orlando and West Palm Beach. Twice-weekly nonstop flights from the airport to Vero Beach, Florida, will begin on Dec. 13.
An additional six destinations will begin nonstop service in February, including Charleston, South Carolina; Jacksonville, Florida; Norfolk and Richmond, Virginia; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; and Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida.
Breeze also announced plans to expand its base of operations at Bradley International Airport in Hartford, including international service, in the coming months. The carrier, which is in the final stages of securing the necessary certification to begin flying internationally, intends to begin selling service to international destinations before the end of the year.
Lukas Johnson, chief commercial officer, said that from Day One, the carrier’s playbook has included significant growth across the Northeast due to the high population density and limited nonstop travel options.
Breeze has a fleet of new Airbus 220-300 aircraft. It offers both bundled and a la carte options, with bundles featuring full flexibility along with other add-ons such as bags, seats and inflight WiFi.
