The Brazilian Tourist Board has announced that the requirement of entry visas in Brazil for holders of ordinary passports from the US, Australia and Canada has been postponed to April 10, 2024.
The tourist board originally announced a starting date of Jan. 10, at which time travelers would have needed to pay $80.90 for multiple entries into Brazil over a five-year period.
Brazil announced on Dec. 6 that it had launched the platform through which citizens of the US, Canada and Australia could obtain the e-Visa to enter the country.
The tourist board said the extension was intended to complete the process of implementing the e-Visa system and prevent the change from interfering with the flow of tourists from these countries to Brazil during the high season.
Former President Jair Bolsonaro eliminated the visa requirements in 2019 to support the tourism industry, but the US, Canada and Australia continued to require visas from Brazilians.
