Avianca, the Colombian national airline, has returned to flying between Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport. With this route, according to an announcement, the airline aims to continue contributing to the connectivity between the US Midwest and Colombia, providing travelers with more convenient access to South America. Avianca had stopped operations on the route five years ago.
The flights will be operated on A320 aircraft with capacity for 180 passengers for a weekly offer of more than 2,500 seats.
Rolando Damas, sales director for North America, Central America and the Caribbean for Avianca, said the new route “is an important part of our mission to enhance connectivity between major cities in the US and Latin America.”
Chicago is the 13th city Avianca will fly to in North America, joining a network of destinations that connect its travelers to Washington, Boston, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando, Miami, Ontario and San Francisco.
Currently, Avianca’s customers have access to a network of 150 routes connecting 75 destinations in 25 countries across the Americas and Europe.
