Air New Zealand announced it has extended the expiration of its pandemic-related travel credits by two years. The carrier had expected passengers to redeem their credits by booking before January 2024, but the latest extension will allow passengers to rebook through January 2026.
According to the airline, 85% of passengers have already redeemed their COVID-19 credits, attained during the multiple lockdowns countries saw throughout the pandemic. Customers who already have credits directly from the airline can rebook online quickly, with a credit redemption option at checkout when purchasing flights on the airline’s website or over the phone with their customer call center. Travelers holding credits through travel agents should make contact with them for any further terms and conditions.
According to news reports, $119 million was yet to be redeemed by customers, which was part of the reason the airline implemented the extension. Bookings had to have originally been made by October 2022.
This is the sixth time that the carrier has extended the expiration date for the credits.
