Most organizations and companies are not achieving minimum standards of risk management protocols for meetings, according to a survey by iJET International, the risk management company, done in partnership with GoldSpring Consulting. More than half of all meeting and events professionals, according to the survey, need further training in applying risk management best practices in order to meet industry standards. This is mostly due to limited awareness of risk management responsibilities faced by planners and organizations, as well as unclear understanding of ownership tied to the safety and security of event attendees. Among the survey findings: Of the 64 percent of respondents with a business-travel risk management policy in place, only 29 percent had programs to directly support meetings and events; and 42 percent of respondents believe the responsibility of risk management rests with third-party suppliers, including meetings and events companies.
